The brothers of Tennessee Zeta had a very successful—and fun—second semester during the 2016-17 academic year. Here is a brief overview.
Our chapter average GPA was a 3.1 this semester. This chapter GPA was on par with last year’s average.
A number of our brothers play crucial roles on their respective athletic teams here at Rhodes and their hard work certainly paid off this year. This semester, Rhodes won conference in Men’s Lacrosse, Men’s Baseball, and Men’s Golf, all teams in which TNZ members participated. To highlight a few individual accomplishments: Sophomore John Tooher led the lacrosse team to victory in the regular season title game scoring 2 goals in the last 37 seconds of the game; Sophomore Nick Bosma led the baseball team in home-runs with 7 this season; and, Junior Chris Harris and Senior Joey Mayo led the golf team to victory with two top-5 finishes at the conference tournament. Junior Tej Suber also had a very impressive season with the track team, setting three new college records in Discus, Hammer, and Weight Throw.
On the social scene, we had three events in the second half of the semester that were very successful. The annual Jungle Party was a huge success, due in large part to the great relationship we have built with Campus Safety. Our second larger event was a charity event for St. Jude in which we raised over $1,000. There is a video being made documenting this event and the rest of our Rites of Spring weekend that should be ready to publish soon. And finally, Paddy. As always, Paddy Murphy is easily our favorite event of the year. From the procession across campus, to the dinner in the lodge, and finally to the venue in midtown, it was a huge success.
We would like to congratulate all our seniors on graduating and wish them luck in all their future endeavors.
